Toledo, Spain, November 23, 1221 – April 4, 1284 in Seville, Spain Alfonso X was a medieval King of Castille (Present day Spain) who is best know for his intellectual aquirements. He wrote many books on subjects such as law, astrology and lapidary. Don Alfonso was called "El Sabio" that is the wise. He devoted much efort to music and brought jewish and moorish musicians to play at his court from their kingdoms in the South.
