Märchenbilder from Montreal, Canada was created in 2009 by James Slainmann (Composition/Orchestration/Guitars/Keys & Effects) and Julie Bélanger Roy (Vocals/Violin/Viola/Recorder & Lyrics). They worked on creating a symphonic metal ensemble, a modern blend between heavy metal and orchestral music inspired by the German composers of the 19th century and their great creations. The following years were busy for both James and Julie: completing their university degrees, composing music, writing lyrics and recruiting talented musicians.
